Dr. Cosmas Lambini, Vice President of the German Federal Association for Sustainability, will represent the organisation at the international Point Sud Workshop \u201cGreen and Digital Futures: Rethinking the Twin Transition in Africa in an Era of Multiple Crises\u201d, taking place from 18 to 22 May 2026 at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda.<\/p>\n
The workshop brings together scholars, policy experts and civil society actors to rethink the green and digital transformation from an Africa-centred perspective. At its core is the question of how the so-called twin transition can be shaped in ways that are inclusive, just and sustainable. The programme addresses key issues such as decarbonisation, digitalisation, governance capacity, social inclusion, institutional design and the political economy of transformation.<\/p>\n
Dr. Lambini is actively involved in several parts of the programme. On the opening day, he will contribute to the roundtable \u201cWhy the twin transition needs an Africa-centred agenda\u201d. This discussion highlights the importance of framing green and digital transformation not only through global technology and climate agendas, but also through African development priorities, governance realities and social justice perspectives.<\/p>\n
In addition, Dr. Lambini will chair Panel 5, \u201cTrust, legitimacy and social imaginaries of the twin transition\u201d. The panel explores how trust, legitimacy, public imaginaries and institutional realities shape the acceptance and implementation of green and digital transformation pathways. Contributions address topics such as trust in digital finance systems, decolonial perspectives on policy templates, digital exposure and climate stress among East African youth, and the role of institutions in shaping support for environmental protection.<\/p>\n
Dr. Lambini\u2019s participation reflects the German Federal Association for Sustainability\u2019s commitment to international dialogue, education for sustainable development, global partnerships and just transformation pathways.
