Today the German Federal Association for Sustainability have for the first time awarded the Sustainability Award “Federal Band for Sustainability” in 4 categories. President Tarik Mustafa pointed out in his opening speech that sustainability is based on a simple, logical, fundamental principle for resource consumption: Never consume more than you have available.

Tarik Mustafa: “Quantitative growth is not sustainable. It is dangerous and unethical, as it in an environment of limited resources (and that’s on this planet everything with the exception perhaps of the sun and cosmic rays) always comes at the expense of others. For this reason alone it treats social and environmental aspects not as equal.

He paid tribute to the zest for action of the winners which has effect because development happen only if there were stakeholder who act. More about the award ceremony and the award winners here.
